March 22nd -- The weather didn't look to good for this event when I got up in the morning, but once up on the hill things weren't to bad at all. The sun was shining through some high clouds and there was fresh pow to be had if the park jam wasn't your thing. Mount Seymour had the Lodge park set up nice with all kinds of features to hit and everything nicely groomed in the morning ready to be infested by the park rats. The features definitely leaned pretty hard towards the folks who are handy with the steel if you know what I mean, but having said that there were also a few jumps to be hit as well. My favorite feature was the BBQ, which was serving up some nice doggers, chips and pop, allowing people to remain in the park right through the lunch hour.
Coastal Riders stayed true to the jam format and handed out prizes for whatever they felt like handing out prizes for, which is always nice to see. This is a good way to run an event in my mind and encourages everyone to just shred the park however they see fit.
I along with quite a few others stayed out of park other than to get some lunch and instead did pow laps through the trees all day. We had a nice little group of soul surfers tearing apart some secret zones, making sure none of the late season powder went to waste, while the others jammed away in the park.
Coastal Riders did it right with the Park Jam this year, keeping everyone entertained and fed all day and encouraged all to enter the park to open up their bag of tricks.
