Red Mountain Resort has announced plans to significantly expand their operating boundary for the 2012-2013 season. The development of an entire new mountain, Grey Mountain, began in the summer, is set to open up access to over 1000 acres of new terrain. This will give Red Resort 60% more inbounds terrain and make it one of the largest ski areas in North America.
Grey Mountain is volcano-shaped, which allows skiing down all sides of the peak. Just a single lift will be required to access all of the new terrain. A quad lift is scheduled to be installed for the 2013-2014 season. Until then, a snowcat will offer shuttles to Red skiers for just $10 per ride.
